Mendip Rail are a freight operating company, owned and operated as a joint venture between Foster Yeoman and Hanson Aggregates. Foster Yeoman were formed prior to privatisation and were the first privately-owned rail operator in the United Kingdom, taking delivery of their first locomotives in 1986.
Mendip Rail currently operates a fleet of 8 Class 59 diesel locomotives.
