Discussion relating to the Blackpool Tramway.
The Blackpool Tramway is a light rail network located along the Fylde Coast between Blackpool and Fleetwood, opened in 1885. There are 38 stations on the network, served using a fleet of 18 Bombardier Flexity 2 trams, built between 2010 and 2017. The Flexity 2s are numbered 001-018. The final two were built later than the original batch and are currently awaiting delivery. The Blackpool Tramway also runs a dedicated heritage fleet of trams, including, but not limited to, the flagship fleet of 15 1930s Balloon double-deck cars.
Services are operated along one line, from Fleetwood Ferry to Starr Gate.
The Blackpool Tramway is currently operated by Blackpool Transport, a subsidiary of Blackpool Council who are also the town's municipal bus operator. Unusually for a light rail/metro system in the United Kingdom, the network is not tendered and as such is publicly-owned.
All information correct as of 4 July 2016.
