Discussion relating to the Caledonian Sleeper.
The Caledonian Sleeper is the collective name for several sleeper trains that run overnight across the United Kingdom. The independent Caledonian Sleeper franchise is currently held by Serco Caledonian Sleepers, Ltd. who took over sleeper services from First ScotRail's Caledonian Sleeper subsidiary with the creation of the franchise on 31 March 2015. The franchise is currently operated by Serco.
The Caledonian Sleeper's fleet currently consists of 2 Class 67 locomotives (on hire from DB Cargo), 5 Class 73/9 locomoties (on hire from GB Railfreight), 2 Class 86 locomotives, 1 Class 87 locomotive and 7 Class 92 locomotives (on hire from GB Railfreight). Class 90 locomotives from Freightliner and DB Cargo are also regularly hired on an ad hoc basis. Services are operated from London Euston to various locations in Scotland, with intermediate stops, as overnight sleeper trains.
