Chiltern Railways are the current holder of the Chiltern rail franchise, having commenced services at privatisation on 21 July 1996. Chiltern Railways' franchise is scheduled to run until 21 December 2021. The franchise is currently operated by Arriva.
Chiltern Railways' fleet currently consists of 8 Class 68 locomotives (on hire from Direct Rail Services), 2 Class 121 units, 39 Class 165 Turbo units, 24 Class 168 Clubman units and 4 Class 172/1 Turbostar units. Services are operated out of London Marylebone, along the Chiltern Main Line to Birmingham Snow Hill, and throughout the Chilterns.
