Discussion relating to Great Western Railway (GWR) and the Night Riviera.
GWR are the current holder of the Greater Western rail franchise, having taken over services at privatisation on 4 February 1996. GWR's franchise is scheduled to run until 30 March 2019. The franchise is currently operated by First, and was previously known as Great Western Trains, and later First Great Western.
GWR's fleet currently consists of 54 InterCity 125 sets, 4 Class 57/6 locomotives (for Night Riviera services), 8 Class 143 Pacer units, 40 Class 150 Sprinter units, 14 Class 153 Sprinter units, 14 Class 158 Sprinter units, 36 Class 165 Turbo units, 21 Class 166 Turbo units and 5 Class 180 Adelante units. Services are operated from London, along the Great Western Main Line and throughout the south west of England. Additionally, GWR currently operate the Night Riviera overnight sleeper train.
