Discussion relating to South West Trains and Island Line.
South West Trains are the current holder of the South Western rail franchise, having taken over services at privatisation on 4 February 1996. South West Trains' franchise is scheduled to run until July 2017. The franchise is currently operated by Stagecoach.
South West Trains' fleet currently consists of 1 Class 73 locomotive, 11 Class 158 Sprinter units, 30 Class 159 Sprinter units, 45 Class 444 Desiro units, 127 Class 450 Desiro units, 91 Class 455 units, 24 Class 456 units, 36 Class 458/5 Juniper units, and 6 Class 483 units (branded as Island Line). Services are operated from London, along the south coast and throughout the south west of England. Services on the Isle of Wight are branded as the Island Line.
