Discussion relating to TfL Rail.
TfL Rail is the name of the inner-city commuter service along the Great Eastern Main Line, between London and Shenfield in Essex. Unlike most franchises, the TfL Rail contract is tendered by Transport for London. MTR Crossrail are the current holder of the TfL Rail tender, having taken over from Abellio Greater Anglia with the creation of the tender on 31 May 2015. MTR Crossrail's operation of the TfL Rail tender is scheduled to run until 31 May 2023. MTR Crossrail are wholly owned by the MTR Corporation.
TfL Rail's fleet currently consists of 44 Class 315 units. Services are operated along the Great Eastern Main Line. In December 2018, the service will be rebranded as the Elizabeth Line, when the new Crossrail tunnels open and brand new Class 345 units begin to enter service.
All information is correct as of 4 July 2016.
