Discussion relating to Virgin Trains.
Virgin Trains are the current holder of the InterCity West Coast rail franchise, having taken over services at privatisation on 9 March 1997. Virgin Trains' franchise is scheduled to run until April 2018. The franchise is currently operated by a joint venture between the Virgin Group (51%) and Stagecoach (49%).
Virgin Trains' fleet currently consists of 56 Class 390 Pendolinos and 20 Class 221 Super Voyagers. Services are operated along the West Coast Main Line.
