NI Railways is the name of the state-owned rail operator which operates train services across Northern Ireland. As the Northern Irish rail network is unconnected to the National Rail network in Great Britain, and it uses the wider Irish gauge, it was never a part of British Rail and was as a result never privatised.
NI Railways' fleet currently consists of 23 Class 3000 units and 20 Class 4000 units. NI Railways also operate 3 Class 111 departmental locomotives, 1 Class 80 departmental unit and 1 Class 450 departmental unit. Note that these trains are not classified under TOPS (as a result, the NIR Class 450 is not the same as the British Rail Class 450, for example).
All information correct as of 4 July 2016.
